James Shehan, of Des Moines, passed away September 1, 2014 at home. James was born September 15, 1938 in Winterset, Iowa to Wilfred and Helen (Hulbert) Shehan.
James lived most of his life in Des Moines. James loved his work as a truck driver. He loved horses, firearms and to fly. He served in the United States Army. James enjoyed being funny and had to be the life of the party.
James is survived by his wife, Sandra; sons, Shane, Patrick and Scott; daughters, Jaime (Jeff) and Penny; sisters, Zelma, Louise and Kathryne; brother, Robert (Karin). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheri; sisters, Gereldine Schultz and Blanche Jones; infant son, Marshall; and stepson, Johnny.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Iles Grandview Park Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
