Funeral Services for Hugh Miller Will be Held in the Christian Church Thursday Afternoon
Funeral services for Hugh Miller former Adel blacksmith, will be held at the Christian church tomorrow, Thursday afternoon, at 2:30 and will be conducted by the pastor Rev. H. H. Gray. Members of the American Legion will serve as escort and a military funeral will be carried out. Mr. Miller is a old-time resident of Adel and Perry. He was nearly 87 years of age and his death was due to a general breakdown.
Hugh H. Miller was born June 28, 1842 and passed away April 14, 1929 at Marshalltown at the soldiers home where he has resided for the past three years. Previous to that time he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Chas. Ross, of Des Moines, Iowa.
He was united in marriage to Sarah Dawson on September 19, 1869 at Winterset and to this union were born seven children, six of whom are left to mourn his loss; Clyde, Tom, Frances, Guy and Myrtle, all of Des Moines and George of Sandusky, Ohio. His wife, Sarah, passed away March 29, 1917 and the eldest son, LeRoy, in January, 1921.
Mr. Miller was a Civil War veteran, having enlisted with the First Ohio Cavalry at the beginning of the war and received his discharge at the close, having served his country during the entire war
