AGED LADY OF THE CITY DIES AT HOME OF DAUGHTER

The many friends here were grieved to learn of the death, at Omaha last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. E. Roberts, of Mrs. H. M. Hughardt, well known local lady who formerly lived at 1007 Chestnut street. Mrs. Hughart, who would have been 84 years of age in March of this year, suffered a stroke several weeks ago, from which she never rallied. Remains will reach the city this evening and funeral announcement will be made later.

WELL KNOWN LADY PASSES TO GREAT BEYOND

Funeral of Late Mrs. H. M. Hughart to Be Held Here at Methodist Church Tomorrow.

Another one of Atlantic’s older residents has answered the last summons and Mrs. Hannah M. (Shannon) Hughart has gone to her heavenly home. She was born March 8, 1842, at Greencastle, Ind., and was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Shannon, being one of a family of six and only the younger brother John Shannon, survives and he resides in Des Moines, Ia.

At the age of thirteen she came with her parents to Madison county, Iowa and here she was married to Young A. Hughart, Nov. 26, 1867. To this union there were born three children. The oldest, Charles H. died in 1910. Samuel the other son resides in Nampa, Idaho and the daughter Mrs. E. E. Roberts in Omaha, Neb.

Husband Dead.

The husband and father died Feb. 6, 1880, and soon thereafter Mrs. Hughart came to this community and made her home in Grove City. In 1892 she moved to Atlantic and had lived at 1007 Chestnut street since that time.

She joined the Methodist Episcopal church when a girl and had been one of the loyal and devoted members of that church through the years. Her religion and her church formed the center of her life’s interest and she rarely missed a service either on Sunday or on week day.

She leaves besides her two children, her brother, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She suffered a stroke about six weeks ago and was taken to the home of her daughter at Omaha where she was lovingly cared for until another stroke last Wednesday rendered her helpless again. From this she never rallied.

She passed peacefully away Monday evening Jan. 4, at the advanced age of 83 years, 9 months and 26 days.
