MARCIA (WRIGHT) MILES, Des Moines, Ia

Marcia Miles, 82, passed away September 1, 2013. Services will be held at a later date. Marcia was born May 29, 1931 in Baltimore, MD to Mercer and Anna Wright and grew up in Catonsville, MD. Before she moved to Iowa, she managed bookstores in New York and St. Louis and occasionally sang on the radio. In 1957 she moved to Des Moines and later Booneville to raise her family. 

She graduated from DMACC with her paralegal degree and was employed with Brenton Bank and American Mutual. She was an avid volunteer, providing Braille services and was a school board president. Marcia had varied interests and hobbies and will be remembered as a very creative person. She enjoyed her holiday lighted village displays, dollhouses, crocheting and she loved her pets.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Susanna Miles and Sara (Bill) Tilley and two granddaughters, Allison and Mackenzie Tilley. She was preceded in death by her parents.
