Creston, Ia, 50801Isobel M. Duff, 88, of Creston, Iowa died August 11, 2009, at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Crest Baptist Church in Creston. Pastor Chuck Spindler will officiate. Burial will be in the Moon Cemetery, south of Macksburg.
Open visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials are to the family of Isobel Duff. Online condolences may be left under the obituary category at powersfh.com
Isobel Marie Duff, daughter of Laura Matilda (Dorsey) and Cyrus Dana Lattig, was born February 3, 1921, in Madison County, Ia. She graduated from Macksburg High School in 1939 as the valedictorian.
On May 27, 1939, she married Donald Calvin Duff in Winterset at the Methodist parsonage. They settled on a farm north west of Greenfield before moving to Elgin, Ill. In 1946 she returned to Madison County, Ia. and worked as a farm wife until moving to Creston in 1960 when she became a co-owner of the locker in Creston. In 1969 Isobel moved to Exira, Ia. and became the co-owner of the locker and began to work as a cook at the care center. In 1988 she moved to Grand Island, Neb. to be near family. In 1993 she moved to Winterset, Ia., where she took up quilting in her spare time. In 2006 she returned to Creston to be near family again.
Survivors include her two sons: Royce (wife Donna Jean) Duff of Decatur, Ill. and Glenn (wife Donna K.) Duff of Tucson, Ariz.; her two daughters: Donna Marie Duff of Alda, Neb. and Laura Ellen (husband Dale) Fusselman of Creston, Ia.; sister: Harriet (husband Marvin) Garrett of Creston, Ia.; sister-in-law Helen Duff; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Isobel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Donald in 1978; two brother Delmar (wife Josephine) and Cyrus (wife Eugenia) Lattig; three sisters: Ethelyn (husband George) Spencer, Lucy (husband Floyd) Kirkland, Clarice (husband Kenny) Claypool; father-in-law Calvin (wife Cora) Duff six sisters-in-law: Leone (husband Allen) Farwell, Hattie (husband John) Fuller, Elowene (husband Bernard) Cannon, Belle (husband Lloyd) Dickey, baby Florence Duff and Baby Della Duff; four brothers-in-law Jim (wife Maxine)Duff, Leland (wife Clara) Duff, Roy (wife Malita) Duff and Leslie "Jack" Duff.
