Leona Wanda Collins

Leona Wanda Collins, daughter of Laurel and Ardis (Paige) Powell was born December 22, 1932 near Ottawa, Iowa and entered into peace June 7, 2014 at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at 81 years of age.

Leona graduated from Clarke Community High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Mardis Wintford Collins on October 12, 1952 in Osceola.

Leona was Mardis' partner on the farm they purchased in 1960 near Truro. She also began working at Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Des Moines that same year, where she worked until she retired in 1986.

Leona loved traveling, especially to the Golf Coast of Texas. She was an avid sea sheller and proudly displayed her collection. Leona loved all animals, especially her cats and dogs. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and cooking big Sunday & Holiday meals for her family. She also enjoyed going to the Iowa State Fair, Old Thrashers Reunion, Farm Progress Shows and Husker Harvest Days. Leona was a member of the Broadhorn Church.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Gene and Bob Powell, sister, Luetta Seaton.

Leona leaves to cherish her memory; son, Terry (fiancee Patricia VanSickle) Collins of Truro, IA; daughter, Vicky (Bill) Stout-Trickey of Osceola, IA; Grandchildren, Jennifer (fiance' Ray) Collins of Truro, IA, Tony Collins of Commerce, GA, Jill Grass of Pleasant Hill, IA, Bobbi (Brian) Boles of Osceola, IA; great-grandchildren, Chasity, Matthew, Logan, Trevor, Tyler, Timothy, Summer, Brianna, Nicholas; great great-grandchild, Annabell; as well as other relatives and many friends.
