Mildred Elizabeth Davis - Winterset
Dec. 20, 1918 - Jun. 8, 2014Mildred Elizabeth Davis, 95, of Winterset, Iowa, died Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Winterset Care Center South in Winterset. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 11, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset with Pastor Joel Nau officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery.
Mildred was born on December 20, 1918, at Bucknell, Iowa to Charles and Alta (Bringman) Sampson. She was married on September 13, 1936 at Unionville, Missouri, to Ben B. Davis, Jr. She had been a resident of Winterset since 1936. Mildred had been a homemaker, a cook, and a bookkeeper and driver for her husband's trucking company. She had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Mildred is survived by her son, Larry "Bear" Dean (Linda) Davis of Patterson; daughter, Carol (Stanley) Faux of Patterson; seven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and nineteen great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alta (Bringman) Sampson; husband, Ben B. Davis, Jr.; son, Keith Davis; six brothers; three sisters; and grandson, Curtis Scott Faux.
Visitation will be Tuesday from noon to 8 PM at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM. Memorials given to the family will be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
