Alice Lorraine Reed Ovitt (1930 - 2007)

Alice Lorraine Ovitt, age 76, of Plano, IL, passed away unexpectantly and peacefully on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich, IL. She was born on October 13, 1930 in Peru, IA the daughter of Almond Frank and Mary Vesta (Leinard) Reed.

Alice was united in marriage on October 20, 1948 to Mr. Lowell Albert Dotson, the father of her children. She was later united in marriage on March 31, 1967 to Mr. E. DuWayne Ovitt and they spent the next 40 happy years together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Mrs. Ovitt was employed for nearly 30 years by Plano Molding in Plano, IL until her retirement. She was a member of the Plano American Legion Auxiliary Post #395. Alice was a very avid Chicago Cubs Fan. She was a wonderful baker and cook and was well known for her famous chicken and noodle recipe. Alice enjoyed sewing and making her own crafts. She was an avid bingo and Yahtzee player. Her favorite holiday was Christmas where she could spend it with her entire family. Alice also enjoyed the companionship of her dear dog, Mali.

She is survived by her husband, DuWayne Ovitt of Plano, IL; her children, Michael (Colleen) Dotson of Plano, IL, Catherine Tunnell of Fox Lake, IL, Alan (Monica) Dotson, Sandwich, IL, Barbara Fleming of Buda, IL, and Patricia (Jim) Hagy of Newark, IL; her grandchildren, Jerry Lee Tunnell, Christy (Thomas) Peck, Melissa Bryant, Justin (Kristy) Dotson, Sara (Jason) Hill, Joshua Hagy, Trisha Hagy, Megan Fleming, Jacob Hagy, and Joey Fleming; her great-grandchildren, Janelle Tunnell, Kortni Bryant, Katy Bryant, Kaylyn Dotson, Isabel Gonzalez, Olivia Dotson, Nathan Hill, and Cole Julian Gonzalez; her sister, Doris Stanton of Lee Summit, MO; and her brothers, Dale (Sammie) Reed, Ernest (Virginia) Reed, and Claire (Shirley) Reed, all of Buffalo, MO.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Vesta Reed; and her brothers, Lloyd Reed and Phillip Reed.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Ovitt will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 8, 2007 at Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Plano, IL. Interment will follow in Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano, IL.

Visitation from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, October 7, 2007 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 W. South St., Plano, IL.
