Joyce Denton, 72, of Afton, died Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the Powers Funeral Home junction of highway 34 and 25 in Creston. Burial will be at the Greenlawn Cemetery, east of Afton. Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Wed., with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wed. at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Lillian Joyce Denton, daughter of Delphous Edmund Bussard and Mary Agnes (Bolton) Bussard, was born on January 9, 1942 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was educated in Red Oak School.
In 1958, Joyce married Walter Allen England in Red Oak. Together they had six daughters. They worked and made their home in Red Oak. Joyce was an active mother, homemaker and waitress. She worked at the Rainbow Diner in Red Oak and later the Tank-up Café.
They moved to Creston in 1972, where Joyce went to work at Wellman's Dynamics. Walter died in 1974.
On June 10, 1976, Joyce married William Denton in Creston. They made their home in
Afton. Joyce worked at Hobos in Creston and also Eaton's Manufacturing in Winterset. Joyce later drove a grain truck for Bill. She also co-owned and operated the Long Branch in Arispe.Survivors include her husband, William Denton of Afton; four daughters, Julie Stewart (husband Larry Smith) of Lorimor, Susan (husband Matt) Miller of Des Moines, Shelly England of Creston and Rainee (husband DeWayne) Crispin of Lorimor; a sister, Mary Loudon (Kevin Kleig) of Creston; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and an aunt, Rose (husband Dean) Goodman of Diagonal, Ia.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Walter England, two daughters, Lori Stone and Sara Mark; and a grandson, C.J. Miller.
