Kenneth W. Palmer, 73, passed away on June 29, 2011. A Celebration of Ken's Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, at Iles Funeral Homes - Grandview Park Chapel with burial following at Oralabor Cemetery in Ankeny.

Ken was born on October 22, 1937, to Gorham and Katherine Palmer in Winterset, Iowa. He married Barbara (Jones) Palmer on June 7, 1958. Ken served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years and the U.S. Army for 23 years during the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm.

He will be missed by children, Robert (Ruth) Palmer, Mike (Beth) Palmer, Kenneth (Becky) Palmer II, Jeannie (Chuck) Taylor; 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Nora May Austin; and brother, Eugene Palmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 46 years, Barbara; son, Keith; brothers, Frank and John; and a sister, Betty.

The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 4, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Barbara Palmer.
