Two Pioneer Women Called

Mrs. Ruth Williams, aged 83, and Mrs. Mary Lovelace, aged 82, both passed away Sunday, each at the home of a daughter living near Patterson. Mrs. Williams, who has made her home in Winterset for many years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lanson Howell, having been persuaded to make her home there during the winter where she might have the care and attention needed at her age.

Mrs. Ruth Williams

Mrs. Ruth Williams, for over twenty-five years a resident of Winterset died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Howell north of Patterson, Sunday morning. The funeral was held at the Howell home, Rev. Goddard officiating. The burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

Ruth Miller was born in Coshocton county, Ohio, in 1831. She went with her father to Illinois and was married to Benjamin F. Williams in 1846. She later came to Iowa. Five children were born to them, Mrs. M. L. McMinimy, Mrs. Geo. R. Darnes, Seth E. Williams, Mrs. C. S. Spaulding and Mrs. Mary Howell, all of them surviving her.

Mrs. Williams was a member of the Methodist church. She had many friends and acquaintances in the city with whom she was a great favorite and who sincerely mourn her death.
