Thursday, September 9, 1920Gladys Florence, daughter of William Ward and Hazel May Ory was born on August 13, 1920, and after shedding the hope of sunshine of its young life for a few brief days, the Heavenly Father took it to be with Him in the Heavenly Home. On the morning of Sept. 7th, 1920 its tiny spirit returned to the God who gave her. On account of the feeble condition of the mother, it was thought best to bring her to town and in the home of the grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cochran, assisted by the aunt Mrs. Bernice Witt, it had all that love and care could do to save its life and prolong its days. But neither love nor care could suffice to save it, and the little one closed its eyes on this world and it went to be with Jesus.
A short service was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cochran, the grandparents, Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Enoch Hill, pastor of the M.E. Church, after which the body was laid to rest in the cemetery at Earlham.
