Elva Lou Denney was born Sept. 25, 1888 and died Oct. 3, 1904. Since February 1903 she has been a victim of that dread disease consumption and for months her loved ones have seen her fading slowly but surely away. Everything that love could contrive was done for her restoration and comfort, but with no avail.

She was converted when only 8 years of age and was a member of the M.E. church from which her funeral sermon was preached by her pastor Rev. Duling assisted by Rev. Booth, of the congregational church. In her death not only will she be missed by her parents and kind brother and sister, but also by the whole community where she was known and loved for her pure Christian life. Her death bed was a place where one gets a glimpse of the next world, as she was conscious until the last and almost her last words were a prayer in which she said, “Thy will not mine be done.”

The bereaved ones have the sympathy of this entire community.

Transcriber’s note: Burial was made in the Moon cemetery, Madison County, Iowa.
