George L. Shaw, pioneer Webster township resident, died Friday, May 16 at the Memorial hospital in Winterset where he had been a patient for the past 19 weeks. He was 79 years of age.
Mr. Shaw was a native of Ohio, where he was born in Brown county on Dec. 21, 1872, a son of Alfred and Mary Shaw. When he was 3 years old he came to Iowa with his parents. They located in Webster township where the remainder of his life was spent.
He was married May 30, 1882 to Edna Wight. Her death occurred in 1933.
Mr. Shaw was widely known as a farmer and stockman. He lived on the same farm in Webster township for more than 50 years.
Surviving are two sons, Glenn Shaw, on the same farm, and Floyd Shaw of Gulf, Calif.; three grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Emma Krell of Omaha, Nebr.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Richards Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Glenn Parrott, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
