August 10, 1943 - April 10, 2014David Searl, 70, of Lorimor died, Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 13 at the Lorimor Community Building in Lorimor with a luncheon to immediately follow.
David has been cremated as per his wishes and his cremated remains will be interred in the Barney Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the Lorimor First Responders.David was born on August 10, 1943 in Tracy, California to Robert Milton and Florence (Palmer) Searl. He attended country school at Barney, Iowa and went on to attend school in Murray, Iowa and later serve in the United States Navy.
During his working career, David worked as a truck driver.
David served as a councilman for the City of Lorimor as well as serving as Mayor. He was also a member of the Lorimor Masonic Lodge. David had a great sense of humor, enjoyed people and was an avid collector who loved to attend auctions and flea markets whenever he could.
David is survived by his two daughters, Robin Searl (Brian Purdy) of Winterset and Monica (Randy) Duffe of Wilton; children, Allan Searl and Donita Stewart; longtime friend and companion, Cricket Gibson of Lorimor; three grandchildren, Isaac, Shannon and Jack Duffe; three sisters, Bette Harper of Winterset, Velda (Red) James of Urbandale and Evalene Hannah of Des Moines. He is also survived by Cricket’s daughters, Heather (Kenny) Hagen of Lorimor, Heidi (James) Weaver of Lenox and her six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Roberta Searl and a brother-in-law, Mike Harper.
