Joshua Myers, age 31, of Boone, died at his home on April 8, 2014. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Boone with Rev. Tim Walker officiating. Place of interment will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery, Boone.
Joshua James Myers was born in Ames, Iowa, on January 25, 1983, the son of Timothy and Jamie (Wilson) Myers. He attended Page and Bryant Schools in Boone and graduated from Boone High School in 2001. Josh attended Boone DMACC and in 2010, graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor's Degree in hotel, restaurant, and institutional management.
Josh started working for Fareway Stores Inc. at the age of 15. He worked in stores in Boone, Winterset, and Clive. His most recent position within Fareway was in the Retail Support/IT Department.
Josh was a member of First United Methodist Church, PROS, First Friday Breakfast Club, and the Ames Friday Dinner Club. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, event planning and cooking, and was a wine connoisseur. Josh loved his job with Fareway and he loved spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Kenneth and Ivy Myers, James and Frances Wilson, and his uncle Dennis Stuckey. He is survived by his partner Ryan Wiedner of Boone and his two children Kristin and David; his parents Tim and Jamie Myers of Boone; sister Iva Neppl and husband Jared of Ankeny and their two children Kinsley and Kadynce Neppl; aunt Rosemary Stuckey of Boone; cousins Todd Stuckey and wife Jodie of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Scott Stuckey and wife Kristi of Evansville, Indiana, and Karen (Myers) Rosengreen and husband Kurt of Boone.
Friends may call at the First United Methodist Church on Friday from 3 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m. Visitation continues Saturday at the Church from 9 a.m. until service time.
