Sarah Harshburger was born in Illinois, March 4, 1833 and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Thompson, in Macksburg, Sept. 2, 1909 at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 28 days. She was married Sept. 19, 1865 at Monmouth, Ill., to Thomas Welch, with whom she moved to Iowa in the seventies. To this union was born five children, three girls and two boys, all of whom survive her. Mrs. Welch was converted at the age of sixteen and united with the Christian church.
