Fonda Gertrude Brittain, infant daughter of David and Sadie Brittain, was born January 2, 1908 and died July 22, 1909, aged 1 year, 6 months and 20 days. Little Gertrude as nearly as everyone called her, was of a sweet and gentle disposition and during her sickness was always patient. Her death was caused from meningitis. All that medical aid and love and caring hands could do, was done to relieve her, but it was the plan of our Loving Father, who doeth all things well, to call her home. We are lonely, but he knoweth best. May we be resigned to his will.

The funeral services were conducted from the U.B. church, by the writer, assisted by Rev. Stiverson of Van Meter. The latter and his wife sang hymns of comfort most sweetly. ----------------E. W. Curtis
