Page 4, Column 3Ermina Thomas, daughter of John and Asenath McNichols, was born in Morgan County, Indiana October 18 1877 and departed this life at her home northeast of Stuart November 29, 1918, being at the time of her death 41 years, 1 months and 11 days old.
At three years of age she moved with her family to their farm near Earlham, where she lived until 1895, when she came to Stuart to live with her sister Alice Hadley, where she made her home until her marriage to Norris Thomas October 11, 1898. Most of the time for the next eleven years, she lived with her husband on a farm two miles east of Dexter. In 1911 they moved to the present home.
She was converted and joined the Friends church in early life. She has lived an earnest Christian life, always engaged in Christian work wherever she lived.
She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, one son, Forest D. and a little nephew Charles, whom they had taken to raise, besides four brothers and three sisters, Tamson Brown and Emma Bower, of Britton Oklahoma, Lindley A. McNichols, of Des Moines, Alonzo J. McNichols, of Oskaloosa, Allen T. McNichols, of Pasasdena, Cal., Alice Hadley and Erwin McNichols, of Stuart, besides a number of other relatives and a host of friends.
The funeral services were held at the home, conducted by Carrie J. Curtis, pastor of the Friends Church. The singing was in charge of the Bible Class. The pall bearers were Chas. Stem, Jos. Roberts, Wm. Hall, Jeff Couch, Jos. Grace and Arthur Hasner.
Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.
