Mrs. Dr. H. C. Irvin died last Saturday after a short illness. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in Friends church, conducted by Rev. Chas. White, and the remains were laid away in Earlham cemetery.

Henrietta Vittinghoff was born in St. Louis, Mo., November 15, 1869. She died at her home in Earlham, Iowa, Dec. 28, 1907, being 38 years, 1 month and 13 days old. She was of German-Irish descent, her father being born in Germany and her mother in Ireland. On August 14, 1889, she was married to Dr. H. C. Irvin of this place. To this union six sons were born, one of whom is dead. Her father and one sister survive her; they reside in St. Louis and the sister was present at the funeral.

Her sickness was of short duration. While nursing her youngest child through pneumonia, she took the same disease and in her exhausted condition had no vitality with which to battle with the disease. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the stricken husband who is thus left alone with his five motherless boys.
