Bernice, 76, passed away March 13 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at Merle Hay Funeral Home with family greeting friends beginning at 10.
Bernice Ruth Gard, the daughter of Benjamin and Anita (Willison) Beeson, was born October 28, 1937 in Earlham, Iowa. She left behind a career in teaching to raise her family, and eventually retired from Younkers. Bernice enjoyed reading, sewing and baking. She especially treasured time spent with her family.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; and in infancy, her twin sister, Beverly.
Bernice is remembered by her children: Steve (Ginger) Gard, Becky (John) Weathers, and Karen (Ryan) Dixon; grandchildren: Jessica Gard, Emily Gard, Ben Gard and Tate Dixon; and her special granddog, Bugs.
