Jane Gabbert, daughter of Michael and Mary Gabbert, was born near Earlham, Iowa, February 23, 1855. In 1901 she was united in marriage with J. B. Franklin of Rippey, Iowa. They lived on a farm in Green county for a few years, then moved to Rippey, Iowa, where they made their home till Mr. Franklin’s death in 1920. Mrs. Franklin then moved back with her brother and sister on the farm near Earlham. Two years ago she and her brother Dave, moved into Earlham, where they lived till his death less than a month ago, February 28th.

Jane has been in failing health for several years and was quite poorly at the time of her brother’s death. A few days ago after his passing her step-daughter, Mrs. Margaret Heater, took her home at Rippey, where she passed away Thursday morning, March 18th, at the age of 88 years and 23 days.

She has been a Christian and member of the church most of her life, she and her brother, Dave, having united with the Earlham Friends church several years ago. She had a simple and devout faith in the saving and keeping power of the Lord Jesus Christ. She has been a hard worker, faithful in her home duties and relationship and a friend to all humanity. She is the last of her family to go—having been preceded in death by her parents, five sisters: Amanda, Rose, Ruth, Ollie and Nora and by two brothers: George and Dave.

Funeral services from the Friends church at Earlham, Sunday, March 21 at 2:00 p.m., with the pastor, W. H. Wilson in charge, assisted by Rev. S. R. Overholser, pastor of the local Presbyterian church. Interment in the Earlham cemetery.

By request the same (three) songs were used for this funeral that were used for her brother Dave’s funeral three weeks ago—sung by the same mixed quartet, Messrs, Fred Fry and Floyd Wilson and Mesdames Helen Fry and Mildred Maxwell. Mrs. Pauline Comly accompanied at the piano.
