Garrett Orahood, son of Jacob and Priscilla Orahood was born in Logan County, Ohio, July 6th, 1835, and died at his home in Des Moines, Iowa, Nov. 6th, 1911, age 76 years and 4 months. He came to Illinois when a young man and married Victoria Pierce in the year 1860. To their union were born seven children. His wife died July, 1892 and later he married Mary Shafer, of Des Moines, Iowa, who with one son and three daughters, are left to mourn his loss.

Mr. Orahood came to Earlham, Iowa, 1867 where he lived until he moved to Des Moines about ten years ago. He was well known to many here.

The funeral was held Wednesday morning in the Earlham Friends Church, conducted by the pastor and interment was made in Penn Center cemetery.
