Mrs. C. C. Jackson died Friday at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines where she had been taken several weeks ago for examination and treatment after a fall at her home south of Earlham. Funeral services in charge of Reverend Peter Bock assisted by Reverend Arch Condo were held Sunday afternoon, February 13, at 2 o’clock at the Presbyterian church. Burial was in the Earlham cemetery.

Julia Ann Courtney, daughter of Matthew and Elizabeth Courtney, was born near Indianola, Warren county, Iowa, April 8th, 1862 and departed this life February 11th, 1938.

She spent her childhood days and grew into young womanhood near her birth place. She united with the North River Christian Church when a young lady.

On March 7th, 1883 she and Charles Clay Jackson were united in marriage, coming to Earlham and locating on the place which has been her home ever since, with the exception of the years they lived on the farm which is now the O. L. Taylor home. To this union was born one son, DeVere. Her husband preceded her in death in June 1933.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her son DeVere, one brother W. J. Courtney of Edmond, Oklahoma, one sister Mrs. Margaret White of Jackson, Ohio, two grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Grant Hughes, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stroud and daughters Pauline and Wilma of Eldon, Iowa, Charlene Jackson who is attending the State University at Iowa City and Opal Jackson who is attending Iowa State College at Ames.
