Mrs. Jennie Benson, mother of N. W. Benson of this place, died at his home Monday morning, after an illness lasting since Christmas. Mrs. Benson, with her husband and family were for many years residents of Madison county. For a number of years she has been living in Giltner, Nebraska, her youngest son, Frank making his home there with her. About a month ago, she wished to come here, thinking she would improve and her son, N. W., went to Giltner for her.
She was taken ill soon after arriving and gradually lost in strength, but her death was due to an affection of the lungs and heart. She was over seventy-one years of age and is survived by nine children.
Short services were held at the home, at five o'clock, Monday evening, conducted by Rev. ReQua. The body was taken to Giltner for burial. Mr. and Mrs. Benson accompanying the body there, where they expected to meet the other members of the family and have the regular funeral services at her own home on Wednesday morning at ten o'clock.
