Joshua Bennett was born in Richland county, Indiana, April 17, 1832, and died at his home south of Earlham on Monday, Oct. 1, 1906, aged 74 years, 5 months and 14 days. He came to Iowa when a young man and has resided here continuously. In 1863 he was married to Nancy McCarty, who survives him. Eight children were born to them, four boys and four girls; three of the children preceded their father to the unknown world.

Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon, conducted by D. R. Jones, and the remains were laid at rest in the Bennett cemetery.
