Earlham Echo – Earlham, Iowa
November 15, 1906Mrs. Wm. Price died Sunday noon after an illness of several weeks. While her death was not unexpected, yet when her life went out it caused a tightening of the heart strings in many a home, for by her many acts of kindness and neighborly ministrations she had endeared herself to a great many. While her loss will be keenly felt in the family circle and among her friends, yet the memory of her unselfish and Christian life will be cherished long after her body has returned to whence it came.
The funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon at her late home and was very largely attended. Many floral offerings gave mute testimony to the love of her sorrowing friends. The service was conducted by Rev. John Stribling and interment was in Earlham cemetery.
Esther Piatt was born in Terracopa county, Indiana, July 19, 1837. At the age of three years her father moved to Henry county, Ill., where she grew to womanhood. On Aug. 31, 1858, she was united in marriage to Wm. Price. They continued to live in Illinois until 1879 when the family moved to Penn township, Madison county, Ia. They resided on the farm until 1894 when they moved to Earlham which has since been their home. She passed away Nov. 11, 1906 at the age of 69 years, 3 months and 22 days. Mrs. Price united with the Free Will Baptist church about 1860, was baptized and continued her faith in the teachings of the bible till the end of her life.
Besides relatives she leaves to mourn their loss, the husband, Wm. Price, and one son, W. J. Price.
