Ole Gray VanSickle

Ole Gray VanSickle, son of Floyd VanSickle and Mabel (Gray) VanSickle was born September 24, 1923 in Tingley, Iowa and passed from this life Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at VA Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa at 90 years of age.

Ole grew up in the Tingley and Shannon City area. On January 7, 1941 he entered the U.S. Navy and served until November 11, 1945 during World War II, being honorably discharged as a 2nd Class Boiler Tender. Ole returned from the Navy to Adel, Iowa, where he worked in the coal mine. Ole was united in marriage to Alvena Pauline Clymer on July 8, 1946 in Mt. Ayr, Iowa and one daughter, Patricia, blessed this union. They lived in the Newton area and later moved to Truro when Ole began working for the Natural Gas Company of America in Truro. Ole has lived in Truro for the past 55 years. He retired in 1985 after 33 years. Ole was a member of the Creston VFW and the American Legion.

Those relatives who preceded Ole in death were his father, Floyd VanSickle and mother, Mabel Reynolds; wife, Alvena; sister, Evagene Johnson and brothers, Clark and Roy VanSickle.

Ole leaves to cherish his memory; daughter, Patricia M. VanSickle and her fiancé Terry Collins of Truro, IA; granddaughter, Bobbi Jean Kneuper of Truro, IA; brother, Keith VanSickle and his wife Evelyn of Newton, IA, as well as other relatives and many friends.
