Peg Ostrem, age 86, entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 29, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at Kavanagh House in Des Moines, IA. She died from ovarian cancer after a courageous two year battle.
Margaret Ann Mason was born on August 13, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended Lincoln High School. On June 19, 1948, she was united in marriage to Orval M. Ostrem. They had two sons, Tom and Bill. Peg worked for many years at O'Callaghan's Appliances. After they retired, they moved down to their farm in St. Charles. Then, after living in Iowa all their lives, they decided in 1990 that getting away from Iowa winters would be a good thing. They became snowbirds and spent much time in Florida, Texas and finally Arizona. Peg always enjoyed making people happy and her smile and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 65 years, Orval; her sons Tom (Deb) Ostrem and Bill; her grandchildren, Sarah, Chrissy (Anand), Jenny and Matt; cousins, nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends.
Visitation will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 3820 SW 9th St, Des Moines, on Monday, December 2 from 4-7PM. The funeral service will be held at the church on Tuesday, December 3 at 10AM followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
