Helen Howard, St. Charles

Helen Howard, daughter of Cleo J. Gamble and Gladys (Hays) Gamble was born January 8, 1926 in Winterset, Iowa and passed from this life Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Mercy Hospice at 87 years of age.

Helen received her education in St. Charles and graduated from St. Charles High School. She was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Dean Howard and this union was blessed by four daughters; Diana, Linda, Roxanne and Melanie. Helen lived in the St. Charles area all her life. Her pride and joy was her family, and she spent many years attending their activities and babysitting grandchildren.

Helen and Bob were devoted members of the St. Charles Parish and taught Sunday School and sponsored the youth group for many years. They were also Sunday School superintendents for many years. She inspired the lives of many with her strong faith in God and her spirit and courage. Helen was a also member of Model Lodge #157 Order of the Eastern Star in St. Charles.

Those relatives who preceded Helen in death were her parents; husband; 2 sisters; and 2 brothers.

Helen leaves to cherish her memory; daughters, Diana (Kevin) Lindsey; Linda Pound (Paul Madsen), Roxanne (Dennis) Beeler, Melanie (Roger) Ritchey; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren and two more in the very near future as well as many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at St. Charles Parish, Monday October 21, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. with Dr. John Lewis officiating.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola.

Interment will be in the St. Charles Cemetery in St. Charles.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Hospice in Johnston or St. Charles Parish in St. Charles. Condolences may be directed to the family at kalefuneralhome.com.
