Barbara Ann Bodwell

Barbara Ann (Bane) Bodwell, age 75, of 200 E. LaGrange Street, Lewistown, Missouri entered heaven to be with her heavenly Father at 4:05 pm on October 3, 2013. She was born February 20, 1938 the daughter of Neal and Ellen Atkins Bane in Winterset, Iowa. She was born again in 1961 in Winterset, Iowa when she received Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She married S.D. Bodwell on June 16, 1956. He survives.

Barb faithfully served her Lord alongside her husband for the past 48 plus years as “Preacher and Barb.” They served the Lord in many locations over the years, including, First Regular Baptist in Knoxville, Iowa from 1967-1974; Columbus Road Baptist Church in Quincy, Illinois from 1974-1991; Brookdale Baptist Church in Moorehead, MN from 1992-1996; Mt. Pleasant Church in Stephensville, MO; Grace and Truth Church in Texas; and currently served at Community Baptist Church in Emden, MO.

Barb was a faithful and loving wife, loving mother and grandmother, gracious friend to young and old alike; Barbara had an impact upon many lives as she ministered from her kitchen table and in the Sunday School classroom.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, S.D.; four children, Kim (Roxanne) Bodwell of Loves Park, IL, Kelly (Karen) Bodwell of Brookfield, MO, Mark Bodwell of Sutter, IL, and Mary Jo (Nathan) Coffman of Dwight, IL; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two step granddaughters; two siblings Mary Louise (Richard) DeVault of Winterset, IA and Jerry (Wanda) Bane of Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barb was predeceased by her parents, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family would like to think the many who called and visited in Barbara’s closing days. A special thank you for the nurses and staff of Hospice of Northeast Missouri.

Services: 10:00 am Monday (October 7, 2013) at Columbus Road Baptist with Pastor S.D. Bodwell, Pastor K.D. Bodwell and Pastor Kelly D. Bodwell officiating.

Burial: Winterset Cemetery, Winterset, Iowa

Visitation: None

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with medical expenses.
