Page 8Olive Boden was born April 8, 1849 in Des Moines county, Iowa. When nine years of age, her parents moved to Washington county, where she grew to young womanhood. Here, in 1868 she was married to Reuben S. Orris and they lived happily together until her husband died on Sept. 4, 1916.
She was the mother of four children: Mrs. C. E. Hircock, Mrs. Samantha Morley of Bayfield, Colo.; Mary, at home, and Dewey II, of Omaha. There are also five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In her early life she made a profession of her faith in Christ as her Savior, and later united with the Methodist church, later becoming affiliated with the Christian church in Winterset, and remained a faithful member until her death. Soon after her husband’s death, she suffered a stroke of paralysis and has since been an invalid, being tenderly and well taken care of by the daughter Mary. She passed away from earthly toil on June 24, 1922, at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 16 days, leaving the four children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, with other relatives and many friends to mourn her death.
The funeral services were conducted from the home on Sunday afternoon by Rev. Jackson Giddens, and the remains were laid to rest in the Winterset cemetery.
