Mortuary

Loraine Georgia Spurgin, eldest daughter of Charles and Georgia Kensler Spurgin, was born in Winterset on Sept. 1, 1906 and passed away at the Winterset hospital on June 23, aged 15 years, 9 months and 23 days.

Loraine was of a sweet, sunny disposition, always thinking of the happiness of others and loved by her teachers and schoolmates, having just finished her first year in the Peru high school.

In November, she gave her heart to her Savior, and pledged her life to His service, being baptized into the Zion Federated church Feb. 12th. She was always faithful in her attendance at church and Sunday school, especially enjoying her Sunday school class.

Loraine has gone to dwell in her heavenly home and has left to mourn her departure, her parents, two brothers, Warren and Raymond; two sisters, Mary and Henrietta; and her grandmother, Mrs. Clydonia Young. ---------- Loraine was ill but two weeks, with a complication of pleuro-pneumonia, and typhoid fever, a heart weakness making her case hopeless.

Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon in the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. George D. Rogers. Burial took place in Winterset cemetery.
