ANTHONY "TONY" LAFRATTE, Prole, Iowa

Anthony John “Tony” LaFratte, the son of Pasquale and Carmella (Loffredo) LaFratte was born March 18, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa. He passed away at his home in rural Madison County on Saturday, September 27, 2013, at the age of eighty-six years, six months, and nine days.

Tony was united in marriage with Frances Darlene King on November 22, 1952 in Churchville, Iowa. Tony worked for Penn Dixie and the Des Moines Railroad before moving to the farm near Prole, Iowa in 1960. Tony enjoyed farming and gardening. He was a member of the Church of Assumption in Churchville, Iowa.

Tony is survived by his wife of sixty years, Darlene; their children: Jane (Sid) Klug of Winterset, John (Shirley) LaFratte of Winterset, Sue Southwick of Prole, Bob (Vet) LaFratte of West Des Moines, Patty Edwards of Pleasant Hill, and Angie (Kenny) Smith of Winterset; five grandchildren: Shelley Klug, Steve Klug, Brandy Rynearson, Marcy Boldman, and Brad LaFratte; seven great-grandchildren: Lannie Davis, Austin Klug, Lexis Nittler, Chantz Nittler, Makayla, Trenton, and Emily Rynearson; and two great-great-grandchildren: London and Talyan Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pasquale and Carmella LaFratte; his step-mother, Paulina LaFratte; a brother, Frank LaFratte; two sisters: Mary LaFratte and Katherine Burk; and many other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends at Ochiltree Funeral Service and Aftercare in Winterset, Iowa from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, Tuesday, October 1, 2013. Funeral Services will be held at Church of the Assumption in Churchville, 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 2, 2013.

Memorials may be made to Church of the Assumption or Middle River Hospice.
