JAMES “JIM” HENDRICKSON
Carlisle

James (Jim) Patrick Hendrickson was born November 16, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa. He passed peacefully from this earth on September 10, 2013 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa following a long, courageous fight with lung cancer.

Jim’s family lived in Ankeny, Iowa until he was 5 years old at which time they moved to St. Charles, Iowa. He attended Interstate 35 schools graduating in 1977. Jim was known to all as “Henry” throughout his school years. He enjoyed building, repairing and driving cars. Many may remember taking a thrilling car ride with him.

Jim married Cindy Jo Crabtree, his high school sweetheart in August, 1977. The couple first lived in New Virginia, Iowa and soon moved to Carlisle, Iowa to raise their family.

Jim’s employment included work at T&C Machine Shop in St. Charles, Pepsi-Cola in Des Moines and then a career change into HVAC sales at Wayne Dennis Supply Company, CFM and Halverson Trane all in Des Moines.

Jim enjoyed watching his children and grandkids activities, working on home improvement projects and cars. Jim had an ability to build, repair or create almost anything of which he credited his dad teaching him. He loved Google to help him find out how to do many things. Jim enjoyed making others laugh and adding humor to people’s lives.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy; children, Chris (Andrea), Courtney (Ryan) Bauman, Cassie (Dan) Deatsch and Curt (Angela); parents, Francis and Beverly Hendrickson; brother, Phillip (Janet) Hendrickson; sister, Phyllis (Doyle) Norris; seven grandchildren, Stone Hendrickson, Claytin and Madelynn Piatt, Carter Bauman, Lillian and Abigail Deatsch and Emma Hendrickson (due in October); and mother-in-law, Mary Jo Belieu.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 13 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Carisle Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 12 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to Joyce Meyer Ministries, Christian Radio 107.1 FM or Mercy Hospice Johnston.
