Chester William Burk, Sr. son of Chester William Burk and Pearl Louise (Bahner) Burk was born November 15, 1931 in Des Moines, Iowa and passed from this life Monday, June 17, 2013 at his home in Truro, Iowa at 81 years of age.Chester received his education in Des Moines School System. He was united in marriage to Bernice Laura Gragert on July 12, 1961 at Salex, Iowa.
Chester worked as a welder at PDM for many years and also worked on the Arch in St. Louis, MO. He was a maintenance machinist for Great Plains Bag Co for 34 years. In his younger years he enjoyed playing in a band and loved country music especially "Johnny Cash". One of his hobbies was working with leather. He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Martensdale.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice in 2011; daughter, Marilyn Katherine; and grandson, Kenneth Burk.
Chester leaves to cherish his memory; children, Linda Vee (Martin) Lemiuex of Lakewood, CO, Ernest W. (Grace) Froehlich of Lake Wales, FL, Bernice "Laura"(Dale) Kitner of Osceola, IA, Virginia R. (William) Jacobe of Truro, IA, Chester "Bill" (Kristin) Burk Jr. of Creston, IA; sisters,Virginia Burk of Adel, IA, Alberta Pitman of Des Moines, IA; 21 Grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren as well as other relatives and many friends.
