LYLE FISH, WINTERSET

Lyle Fish, 88, of Winterset, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at his residence in Winterset. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, June 20, 2013, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Rev. Dr. John Shaull officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Union Chapel Cemetery at Madison County, Iowa.

Lyle was born on November 30, 1924, at Van Meter, Iowa to Roy and Leona (Sumpter) Fish. He served in the US Army during WW II as a heavy truck driver. His campaigns included Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. Upon returning home, Lyle was a truck driver and for many years worked for S & S Trucking in Winterset and 3-M Trucking in Des Moines. He was married to Bobbie Silverthorn and to this union were born four children. He later married Betty Lincoln at Winterset. He had spent most of his life in Winterset. Lyle had been a member of the Teamsters Union #147.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Betty Lincoln-Fish of Winterset; children, Connie (Paul) Bindel of Winterset, Vicki Tibben of Des Moines, and Toni Moon of Winterset; step-children, Bob (Tammi) Lincoln of St. Charles, Rhonda Sanders of Solon, and Becky (Wade) Porter of Winterset; twenty grandchildren; and thirty-three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Leona (Sumpter) Fish; daughter, Lyla Fish; brother, Harold Fish; and half-brother, Eldon Hunt.

Memorials given to the family will be directed to Middle River Hospice.
