Dorrence (Moe) Moreland of Mesa, AZ, age 89, passed away May 22, 2013 at Banner Gardens Hospice Home.

Dorrence was born in Penn Township, on February 6, 1924. He attended Earlham Schools and graduated in 1942. He enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1944 and served as a mechanic on B-29 bombers until receiving an honorable discharge in 1945. Following his discharge he trained and was employed in a number of technologies including electronics, television, automobile, agricultural mechanics, as well as computer maintenance.

Moe married Norma Jean Compton on May 8, 1949. He is survived by his wife and two sons: Jerry and his wife, Linda, and his daughter Christina; and son Danny and his wife Dee, his three daughters, Kerri and Nick Quaid, great granddaughters Reagan and Ellie; Kelli and Tim Litzau, great-grandsons Cole and Owen; Katie and Ryan Brown, great-grandson Caidyn.

Moe was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John J. Moreland; and his sister Dorothy Jean Mock and her husband Jesse Mock.

He leaves behind his brother-in-law William E. Compton, his wife Twila and their family; also cousins Kenneth McFarlin, Helen Shifflett and members of the Mock family.

Cremains will be placed in the Penn Center Cemetery at a later date.
