Obituary of JOEL R. STEPHENS

Joel R. Stephens, was born in Ohio, September 1, 1842, died on June 17, 1913, aged 70 years, 8 months and 17 days.

He moved near Winterset, Iowa, when a boy, and while there enlisted in Co. H. 23rd Iowa, on August 11, 1862, serving his country until July 1865. He received three gunshot wounds, and was confined twelve days in the hospital, being in active service the entire time with this one exception.
