Sept. 12, 1938 - Apr. 13, 2013

Dale McCullough, 74, of Winterset, Iowa, died Saturday, April 13, 2013, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 18, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Rev. Sue Blader and Rev. Kevin Blader officiating. His body will be cremated following the visitation period with the cremains being interred with military honors at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter, Iowa.

Dale was born on September 12, 1938, at Bloomfield, Iowa to Herbert and Rita (Goodson) McCullough. He was a 1956 graduate of Bloomfield High School and in 1962 joined the US Army for tour of duty. On May 2, 1965 he married Elizabeth Henson at the First Christian Church in Winterset.

Dale lived in Des Moines, Kansas City and finally settled in Winterset in 1994. He had been a customer service agent for the former Braniff Airlines in Des Moines for over 30 years. He then went on to do HVAC work in the Winterset area.

Dale had been a member and past
president of the Winterset Kiwanis Club, helped with the Madison County Food Bank, and was a member of the First Christian Church. He loved puttering in the garage, putting wheels on everything so he could move it. He enjoyed yard work, feeding the birds,squirrels, and rabbits, and driving the school bus and the kids. Most of all he enjoyed watching his granddaughter Shelby play soccer.

Dale is survived by his wife, Liz McCullough of Winterset; son, Todd (Pam) McCullough of Lorimor; brother, Dennis (Linda Harrison) McCullough of Easton, Maine; sister, Leah Jane McCullough of Cedar Park, Texas; and granddaughter, Shelby RaNee McCullough.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Rita (Goodson) McCullough; and brother-in-law, John Rodman.

Memorials may be directed to his family for a future designation.

Place of Visitation: McCalley-Collins Funeral Home

Time of Visitation: Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m. Family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
