Quaker Oats Artist John Mills dies

John A. Mills, 86, of Lincolnshire, Ill., died of complications of a stroke Tuesday at Highland Park Hospital in Highland Park, Ill. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ruppert Funeral Home in Stuart.

Mr. Mills was born in Winterset and had lived there and in Stuart and Chicago before moving to Lincolnshire in 1956. He was a retired illustrator and painter and had designed the now-famous Quaker man that adorns the Quaker Oats cereal packaging.

The family will receive friends an hour prior to the time of services today at the funeral home.
