Bruce A. Platt, 58, died Saturday, May 8, 2004 at Iowa Methodist Hospital from complications of emphysema. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home with burial at Clark Cemetery in Winterset. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Bruce was born in Creston and grew up near Winterset. He was active in 4-H, FFA, and Parents Without Partners. He was employed in the circulation department of the Des Moines Register. He loved cats, gardening and showing horses. His sense of humor will be greatly missed.
He is survived by three sons, Shawn (Audrey) Platt of Iowa City, Lance (Dorothy) Platt of Ft. Stewart, GA, and Scott Platt of University Park; four grandchildren, Wesley, Seth, Melanie, and Esther; and his best friend, Shirley Slocum of Prairie City.
