Roy N. Johnson, 79, of Van Meter died of a heart ailment Friday at Methodist Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Van Meter United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in DeSoto.

Mr. Johnson was born in Hayfield, Minn., and had lived in DeSoto before moving to Van Meter in 1945. He was a custodian at Baker’s Cafeteria and a member of Iowa Farm Bureau and Booneville Co-op.

Surviving are his wife, Emogene; two daughters, Janice Johnson of Van Meter and Beverly Algoe of Winterset; a son, William of Van Meter; two sisters, Florence Hornsby of Perry and Phyllis Siedlemann of Littleton, Colo.; a brother, Richard of Van Meter; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at Fisher Funeral Home in Van Meter, where the family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Homecare Services, Meals on Wheels or his church.
