Timothy (Tade) McCarty, the last of a pioneer Lee township family was laid to rest in St. Patrick’s cemetery in Lee township on Wednesday, March 9, 1960. Mr. McCarty, 101 years of age, died at the New Haven Rest Home at 3608 South West 9th St., in Des Moines after a heart attack early Monday, March 7. He had resided the past nine years in Des Moines and prior to that at the Irish settlement near Cumming. He was a retired farmer, the last of his family.

Last rites were conducted by the Rev. Father D. P. Curtin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning and interment was made in the cemetery on March 9 at St. Patrick’s.

Coordinator's note: An analysis of the censuses indicates that Timothy was born about 1866, making him about 94 when he died.
