Electric Charge Kills Truro Boy

6-Year-Old Contacts Wires While Standing on Metal Building

A 6-year-old boy was electrocuted last Thursday at the home of his cousin near Truro.

Raymond D. Brant, small son of Mr. and Mrs. John Brant, Jr., of near Truro, was killed when he contacted electric wires strung above a metal shed. The accident occurred at the Dean Brant farm. The two places, about a half mile apart, are located four and a half miles southwest of Truro.

The boy’s father climbed onto the machine shed roof and pulled his son off the wire. The father was wearing rubber-soled shoes. The mother tried mouth-to-mouth respiration, but the effort was to no avail.

The boy is survived by his parents, a sister, Marty Esther, aged 8 years; and a brother, Eric, aged 2 years.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Truro Christian church, with the Rev. Millard Marshall officiating. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
