MARIAN L. WALLACE, Colorado

Marian L. Wallace, 88, of Craig, Colo., and long-time resident of Macksburg, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at the Sandrock Ridge Care Center in Craig.

Funeral services for Marian Wallace were held Monday, March 4, at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg, with Pastor Ben Carter Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Moon Cemetery in Macksburg. Memorials may be made in Marian L. Wallace’s name to Sandrock Ridge Nursing Home, Craig.

Marian Lorene, the daughter of Harmon and Bertha Bennett McKinzie, was born near Macksburg. She grew up on the family farm and attended school at Macksburg Community School. Marian was united in marriage to Melvin Dwayne Wallace, the couple made their home in Macksburg. They also lived in Denver, Colo., for several years. The couple owned and operated a restaurant business, first in Denver and then in Macksburg. She moved to Craig, Colo., in 1990. Marian belonged to the Rebekah Lodge, Women’s Relief Corps and United Methodist Church, all in Macksburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Pat Hesselgren in 2012 and a brother.

She is survived by her children, Louise Peckham of Indianola; Dwayne (Karen) of Manson, Iowa; Charlotte (Terry) Brown of Creston, Iowa, son-in-law, Bill Hesselgren of Craig, Colo.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou McKeon of Florida.

Marian never knew a stranger. She loved life. She loved to dance. She loved George Strait, the Colorado Rockies and the Chicago Cubs. Most of all, she loved her family. She will be greatly missed.

Marian L. Wallace, Craig, Colo.

Marian L. Wallace, 88, of Craig, Colo., formerly of Macksburg, died Feb. 25, 2013, at Sandy Rock Ridge Care Center, in Craig, Colo.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg. The Rev. Ben Carter Allen will officiate.

Burial will be in the Moon Cemetery in Macksburg. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Dugger Funeral Home , 111 Luick's Lane, Belmond, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given in Marian L. Wallace's name to Sandy Rock Ridge Nursing Home, Craig, Colo.
