Death of Former Resident of Peru Occurred Sunday
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Peru Methodist church for David C. Abbott, former resident of the Peru community, whose death occurred Sunday at Red Oak.
Mr. Abbott was 88 years of age at his death. He was a native of Clarinda, where he was born April 16, 1876, a son of James H. and Phoebe J. Pfander Abbott.
His active life was spent in farming. He was a resident of Madison county from 1932 until 1961, and was a member of the Winterset Masonic lodge.
He was married in Oklahoma in 1903 to Lottie Godbey.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Greta McCunn of Red Oak and Mrs. Ruth Fenimore of Peru; 16 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Smith of Clarinda.
The Rev. James Nicholson of Truro officiated at the funeral services Tuesday. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
