Mrs. Charles Clarke Dies at 93 Years

Mrs. Charles Clarke, a resident of the St. Charles community for 70 years, died last Wednesday, Oct. 9, at a nursing home there. She was 93 years of age.

Mrs. Clarke was a native of Ireland, where she was born in county Antrim on March 7, 1870. She was the former Ann Picken, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Picken.

She was married Dec. 29, 1893, to Charles Clarke. They were parents of six children, one daughter dying in infancy. Her husband preceded her in death in 1932.

She was a member of the St. Charles Presbyterian church.

She is survived by four sons, John Clarke of St. Charles, Charles Clarke of Truro, Willis Clarke of Winterset and Francis Clarke of Mt. Ayr; a daughter, Mrs. Agnes Crawford of San Diego, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the St. Charles Presbyterian church conducted by Rev. Arthur Eady. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
