MARGARET E. CRONK

On Thursday, February 7, 2013, following a courageous battle with acute leukemia, Margaret E. Cronk, 76, of Des Moines died to this life and awakened to eternal life through her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 11 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1503 SE 6th Street, Des Moines, of which she was a long-time member. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 12 at the church followed by 12:30 p.m. burial at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter. 

Margaret was born on June 4, 1936 in Osceola, IA. She and W.F. 'Bud" Cronk were married on October 4, 1958 and together made a home in Des Moines. Margaret was retired from the circulation department of The Des Moines Register. She enjoyed reading, watching wildlife and spending time with her family. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Bud Cronk of Des Moines; son, Mark A. (Corina) Cronk, and daughter, Catherine A. (Mark) Grimm, of Des Moines; six grandchildren, Mark, Kristopher and Hannah Grimm and Faith, Joshua and Micah Cronk; five siblings, Victor Porter of Lander, WY, Virginia (Robert) McClelland of Truro and Sandra (Arthur) Chittenden, Ralph "Rob" (Linda) Porter and Pamela (Timothy) Knapp all of Des Moines; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends. 

Margaret's family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Shreck and his staff for their kindness and care.
 
Memorial contributions may be directed to Fellowship Baptist Church, Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House or the John Stoddard Cancer Center.

Margaret (Porter) Cronk of Des Moines, formerly from the Truro area, passed away of February 7, 2013 following a courageous battle with acute leukemia.

Margaret is the daughter of the late Ralph and Roberta (Proudfoot) Porter. Her sisters are Virginia (Porter) McClelland of Truro, Sandra (Porter) Chittenden of Urbandale, and Pam (Porter) Knapp of Des Moines. Margaret's brothers are Victor Porter of Wyoming and Rob Porter of Des Moines.

She is married to W. F. “Bud” Cronk and to this union two children were born, Mark Cronk and Catherine A. Grimm and they also were blessed with six grandchildren.

The visitation and funeral were held at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Des Moines on Tuesday, Feb. 12.
