17-Year-Old Farm Girl Died Aug. 8 in Des Moines Hospital
Funeral services for Donella Rae Ziemann, 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Ziemann, were held Sunday afternoon from the Trinity Lutheran church south of Van Meter.
Miss Ziemann died Thursday, Aug. 8 at a Des Moines hospital following a six month illness. She had been under medical care since December, 1962, and was a hospital patient several times, both in Des Moines and Rochester, Minn.
The oldest child of Don and Norma Fogler Ziemann, she was born in Des Moines on July 5, 1946. She lived in Des Moines until she was two years of age, when she moved with her parents to a farm in Jefferson township where she lived until the time of her death.
In her infancy, she was baptized in the Trinity Lutheran church of Jefferson township, and was confirmed a member in 1960. She also belonged to the church Walther League.
She was enrolled in the Van Meter Community school, and completed her junior year in high school last spring. She was active in all school activities.
Surviving are her parents; a sister, Martha; two brothers, Dennis and Mark; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Ziemann of Jefferson township; and her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Fogler of Patterson.
Officiating at the funeral Sunday was the Rev. E. A. Breiholz, Trinity Lutheran pastor. Burial was in the church cemetery.
